The Samsung Omnia Pro B7330 is one of several new QWERTY phones to join the Omnia family. The device is very similar to the B7320, the main differences are that it has a larger screen measuring 2.6 inches, it’s 2mm slimmer and it comes with the latest Windows Mobile 6.5 OS. The B7320 is quite compact for a fully-featured smartphone, measuring 115 x 59 x 10.8mm and weighing just 107g. The 2.6 inch screen is just large enough for viewing videos and occasional internet browsing.

Samsung has introduced the new Wiz Pro software which enables you to access shortcuts and applications that are frequently used. For example the home screen could contain your favourite contacts, music player and photos. Running on Windows Mobile 6.5 there are some useful features for business and leisure including Pocket Office with support for Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF documents. Outlook is also supported as is Windows Media Player. On the connectivity front the B7330 has HSDPA and Wi-Fi support for high speed web browsing and Bluetooth for the wireless transfer of files.

The Omnia Pro B7330 has a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera with face and smile detection, plus geo-tagging for stamping each photo with their exact location. There is also a front facing camera for video calling. Other features include an FM radio, GPS, Adobe Flash Lite support and expandable memory up to 16GB.

The Samsung S5560 (also known as Samsung Marvel) features a large bright touchscreen display that uses Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface. Users can add interactive shortcuts to the 3 inch screen, providing quick and easy access to social networking sites, messaging, multimedia and much more.

The Samsung S5560 includes a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, autofocus, plus smile and blink detection. Being a mid-range phone there’s no 3G but Wi-Fi is included along with a web browser, email, stereo Bluetooth 2.1 and an FM radio.

The much anticipated Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 will be with us in less than a month.

It’s the first Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone with an 8 megapixel camera and WVGA video recording capabilities. It’s also the first device that features a QWERTY keyboard as well as such a high spec camera.

Measuring 110×54×16mm, it’s almost identical in size to the XPERIA X1. The 3.2 inch, high resolution, resistive touchscreen covers most of the X2’s front. It has am optical trackpad and a nice slide-and-tilt mechanism to reveal the QWERTY keyboard.

The XPERIA Panels interface has five sections, each one with many subsections, consisting of shortcuts to applications or content stored. XPERIA Panels can be configured just the way you want them. The X2 is predominantly a cameraphone, advanced camera features include an image stabilizer, smart contrast, touch focus and WVGA video recording at 30 frames per second. The music player is also very good and the video player supports XviD/DivX files. The XPERIA X2 has stereo Bluetooth and a 3.5mm audio jack along with a TV out port for viewing video and images on a big screen. Memory can be expanded to 16GB using a microSD card.

Professional users still find the XPERIA X2 useful too, Windows Mobile 6.5 includes Pocket Office, and with push email, HSDPA and Wi-Fi this is a seriously effective instrument for business and leisure.

Out now, the Omnia Lite is the latest touchscreen phone from Samsung and it runs on the latest version of Windows Mobile.

With Windows Mobile 6.5 you can download apps from the Windows Marketplace, open and edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, run multiple applications and synchronise emails, address book and calendar with a PC. The Omnia Lite features Samsung’s excellent TouchWiz interface, customise your home screen by adding widgets and shortcuts. It has all the usual connectivity options including HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth.

The 3 inch touchscreen is a good size for working with Windows apps or for browsing the internet, yet it helps keeps the overall dimensions of the phone to a reasonable size, measuring 107×52×13mm. There’s a 3 megapixel camera with auto focus and smile detection, a built-in FM radio and a good MP3 music player. The Omnia Lite has 250MB of internal memory which can be expanded using a microSD memory card.
